SHELLY STREET
SWINDON
In order to
construct a mutli-storey block of 10 No
flats, with basement car-parking, it was
necessary to excavate a full storey below
the adjacent Victorian terrace properties.
Contiguous
piled walling was installed to provide the
temporary and permanent retaining wall
support. After excavation, an in-situ
reinforced concrete slab was constructed to
form the first floor of the accommodation.
This slab acts as a permanent prop to the
top of the contiguous piled retaining wall
The remaining
structure is formed using load bearing
masonry with pre-stressed concrete planks.
The front of
the property blends with the adjacent two
storey Victorian terraces, whilst the
rear is a contemporary three storey property
with access to basement car park and
communal roof garden.
