BARN
CONVERSION
SWINDON
In order to
achieve a two storey internal height, the
floor level in this Grade II listed barn had
to be lowered below ground (water table)
level.
New
foundations had to be constructed below the
existing, and new walls had to be built up
to the underside of the existing.
The newly
created partial basement had to be “tanked”
and a land drain constructed around the
exterior perimeter to prevent water/damp
ingress.
The existing
timber frame structure had to be
repaired/strengthened to details approved by
the Local Authority Conservation Officer.
